Happiness is ________________?
What is happiness, exactly? I think that sometimes we tend to think or believe it to be something it's really not; that perhaps to feel happy, we must be laughing or in some state of bliss. I get the impression that a lot of people are missing out on what happy is because they've misunderstood what the word actually means.
Happy is defined as:
- feeling or showing pleasure or contentment.
- fortunate and convenient.
Maybe that's different than you had expected...at least it was for me.
So the question is, are you happy?
The other part of happiness and "being" happy is the choice we make to feel it. We are living, breathing and changing beings in a world with other people that are doing the same. Things rarely ever work out the way we expected but we don't have to allow those experiences to "dictate" how we feel or the way we think. We can choose.
We can choose to be happy just as much as we can choose anything else in our lives.
It's really a matter of focus; what feeling or idea we choose to merit our attention. We can allow circumstances or events to dictate our feelings or we can choose to focus on our contentment, happiness or sense of well-being. It's easier said than done, but the more we do it, the easier it gets.
You get to decide. It's really up to you. Really, it is.
